Notes on corresponding rule changes for Comprehensive Rules Manual
Ver. 3.0 and Official Rule Manual Ver. 5.0
The Comprehensive Rules now include the new "link" rule, "App Fusion" digivolution which involves linking, as well as changes to some rules and card rulings.
The following content will apply starting on 4/4 (Fri.).
New rule: "Link"
The new "link" rule has been added.
A link is a rule where a card with [Link] can plug in sideways into one of your Digimon. A Digimon with a Link card is "linked."
As with actions such as playing a card, digivolving, or attacking, a link is declared during the main phase, then you can link a card in the hand or battle area.
In addition, a card can be linked by an effect.
- ●Link Rules
-
- ・Plug in a card with [Link] in the hand or battle area
sideways into your Digimon in the battle area. - ・When a link is made the Digimon gains link effects and extra DP.
- ・A card plugged in sideways becomes a link card.
*This card isn't considered a digivolution card or other stacked card - ・1 Digimon can have 1 link card.
▲If digivolution cards are already present, plug in at the bottom. - ・If linking when the link limit has already been reached, the original link card is replaced and trashed.
- ・When linking a Digimon in the battle area, that Digimon is considered to be removed from the battle area, therefore its digivolution cards are trashed.
- ・If a Digimon doesn't meet the link requirements, that link card is trashed upon a rule check.
- ・Plug in a card with [Link] in the hand or battle area
New "App Fusion" digivolution
The "App Fusion" digivolution involving linking has been added.
App Fusion allows a linked Digimon with 2 of the specified cards to digivolve for a lower cost than normal.
As with DNA digivolution or burst digivolve, App Fusion using a card from the hand is possible by making a declaration during the main phase.
Digivolution is also possible by effects that perform App Fusion.
In addition, App Fusion is possible using any combination of 2 cards (Digimon and link card) from among the specified cards.
- ●App Fusion procedure
-
- ①When you have a Digimon that meets the App Fusion requirements, reveal a card with [App Fusion] and declare an App Fusion.
- ②Place the specified link card from under the Digimon to be digivolved on top of that Digimon.
- ③Place the revealed card on top of the Digimon to be digivolved, and the App Fusion is complete!
- ●Other App Fusion rules
-
App Fusion can use any combination of Digimon and link card from among 2 of the specified cards.
Example: If a card has [App Fusion] [DoGatchmon] & [Timemon]: Cost 0,"
App Fusion is possible with the following combinations.- ・[DoGatchmon] with [Timemon] link card
- ・[Timemon] with [DoGatchmon] link card
Notes on BT7-112 [Susanoomon]
This card's 1st effect can treat a Tamer as if it's a Digimon, similar to BT4-011 [Agunimon]'s effect.
In the previous versions of the rules, BT7-112 [Susanoomon] was trashed if the player chose to not digivolve this card after declaring a digivolution of this card and processing the conditions shown in the text after "by."
The rules have changed so that digivolution is still possible with "as if the Tamer is a level 6 Digimon," but as with normal digivolution, choosing to not digivolve this card after declaring a digivolution is no longer possible.
The proper procedure is as follows.
- ① Upon declaring a digivolution and revealing this card, the player chooses whether or not they will activate its 1st effect.
If they choose to activate it and process the conditions shown after "by," digivolution will be possible with one of their Tamers as if the Tamer is a level 6 Digimon. - *This "you may digivolve" part of the effect isn't optional, therefore the player can't choose to not digivolve after processing the conditions shown after "by."
- ② The player chooses 1 digivolution requirement on this card and 1 of their cards on the field that meets that requirement.
If the 1st effect is activated at such times, a Digimon or a Tamer can be chosen, and a chosen Tamer will be treated as a level 6 Digimon during this digivolution. - ③ The digivolution cost specified in the chosen digivolution requirement is paid.
- ④ This card is placed on top of the chosen card, draws 1 card, and the digivolution process is complete.
Notes on
"gain 1 memory and <Draw 1>"
The processing order for "gain 1 memory and <Draw 1>" has been changed to "<Draw 1> and gain 1 memory."
Effects such as BT9-092 [Cool Boy] read "gain 1 memory and <Draw 1>," but some cards have gain 1 memory and <Draw 1> in a different order, easily causing confusion in games due to the processing order being different when effects activate with both BT11-095 [Taiki, Kiriha, & Nene] and BT21-083 [Taiki Kudo] or other such cards in the same deck.
In order to solve this problem, the order of "gain 1 memory and <Draw 1>" on some cards will be changed, and card text will be standardized as"<Draw 1> and gain 1 memory."
However, this change doesn't apply to cards such as BT17-089 [Rhythm] that have conditions for processing between <Draw 1> and gaining 1 memory, etc.
The aforementioned change will apply to the cards in the following list.

Replacement cards won't be made for these text and ruling changes.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.
The Comprehensive Rules Manual has been updated with changes to the text of some cards and ruling for the changed cards.
The following content will apply starting on 8/31.
Revision to [LM-020 Quantumon]’s card information
[LM-020 Quantumon]’s effect is not affected by the effects of the declared card category. However, the text stated that since it’s not affected by the effects of Digimon, including itself, it wasn’t affected by the "isn't affected by the effects of Digimon cards" effect that [LM-020 Quantumon] itself activates, and the correct processing wasn’t being executed.
To resolve the above issue, part of [LM-020 Quantumon]’s text will be corrected.
[Start of Opponent's Turn] Declare 1 card category. Then, reveal the top card of your opponent's deck. If it's of that category, this Digimon isn't affected by that category's effects for the turn. Return the revealed cards to the top or bottom of your opponent's deck.
[Start of Opponent's Turn] Declare 1 card category. Then, reveal the top card of your opponent's deck. If it's of that category, this Digimon isn't affected by that category's effects, other than this Digimon's effects, for the turn. Return the revealed cards to the top or bottom of your opponent's deck.
With this change, since [LM-020 Quantumon] will be affected by its own effects, it will be affected by its own "isn't affected by the effects of Digimon cards" effect and the inherited effects of cards placed in its digivolution cards.
Regarding "The XX of this card/Digimon is also treated as [YY]" text
"The XX of this card/Digimon is also treated as [YY]" text on cards such as [BT8-061 Thundermon] will be revised as shown in the new text below.
- ・Old text
The XX of this card/Digimon is also treated as [YY]. - ・New text
(Rule) XX: Also treated as [YY].
Regarding "You can include up to XX in your deck" text
"You can include up to XX in your deck" type text on cards such as [BT6-085 Eosmon] and [RB1-004 Agumon] will be revised as shown in the new text below.
- ・Old text
You can include up to XX copies of cards with this card's card number in your deck. - ・New text
〈Rule〉 You can include up to XX copies of cards with this card's card number in your deck.
Regarding ruling changes due to changes to 〈Rule〉
In accordance with the above-mentioned changes to the texts "The XX of this card/Digimon is also treated as [YY]" and "You may include up to XX in your deck," ruling will be changed as follows.
- ●Before card information revision
Since effects can't be activated in the breeding area, names, etc. aren't gained, and digivolution can't be performed under digivolution requirements using that name.
(Example: [BT11-063 Geremon] in the breeding area can't digivolve into [BT15-057 Numemon (X Antibody)].) - ●After card information revision
A card's 〈Rule〉 always applies, regardless of the card's location, so it can digivolve based on that name, etc., even in the breeding area.
(Example: [BT11-063 Geremon] in the breeding area can digivolve into [BT15-057 Numemon (X Antibody)].)
The always-applied effects "The XX of this card/Digimon is also treated as [YY]" and "You may include up to XX in your deck" were effects in the old text, so it was difficult to understand in what state the text could be referenced, causing confusion among users.
With this ruling change, the text will be unified into a rule rather than an effect and will apply in any location and in any state.
The above corrections apply to the cards listed below.

Replacement cards won't be made for these text and ruling changes. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.
The Comprehensive Rules Manual has received a major revision in order to make the content easier to understand. In order to make individual rules easier to understand, they have been accordingly changed as follows.
The following content will apply starting on 8/31.
The main area of the game, "the field"
The area containing the breeding area and the battle area will be referred to as "the field." The breeding area and battle area will accordingly be considered parts of the field. When "the field" is specified, it will include both of these areas.
However, other rules regarding the breeding area and the battle area remain unchanged.
<Overflow> rule change
The rule for <Overflow> has been changed from "as this card would move from the battle area or from under a card to another area, lose X memory" to "as this card would move from the field or from under a card to another area, lose X memory."
In the previous version of the rule, the behavior of a card with <Overflow> in the breeding area varied depending on whether or not it had cards under it, causing confusion among many players.
This change will modify the behavior of a card with <Overflow> in the breeding area as follows.
- ・When a Digimon with <Overflow> in the breeding area is trashed, it is moved from the breeding area to the trash, therefore <Overflow> isn't processed.
- ・When a digivolution card Digimon with <Overflow> in the breeding area is trashed, it is moved from under a card to the trash, therefore <Overflow> is processed.
- ・When a Digimon with <Overflow> in the breeding area is trashed, it is moved from the field to the trash, therefore <Overflow>is processed.
- ・When a digivolution card Digimon with <Overflow> in the breeding area is trashed, it is moved from under a card to the trash, therefore <Overflow> is processed, as before.
This rule change will also apply to <Overflow> on cards already owned by players.
Replacement cards won't be made for this rule change. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.
Simultaneous triggering with rule checks
Some of the rules for simultaneous triggering have changed with the addition of the following rule: "When an effect triggers during processing for a single action (such as a triggered effect, digivolution, or card play) then an effect triggers due to a rule check, the effects are considered to trigger simultaneously." In the previous version of the rules, the processing procedure would differ from the normal procedure only when a DP-reducing effect was involved, causing confusion among many players.
The rule changes will modify the procedure as follows.
Consider a situation where you use [BT8-109 Flame Hellscythe]'s effect to reduce the DP of a Digimon with an [On Deletion] effect by -6000, its DP becomes 0, then an effect plays a Digimon with an [On Play] effect from your trash.
Replacement cards won't be made for this rule change. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.
Counter Timing
The counter timing rules will be changed as follows: "The counter timing is the timing when a non-turn player's [Counter] effect triggers."
■In the previous version of the rules, the counter timing used the following procedure.
- ① The non-turn player's "when an opponent's Digimon attacks" effects trigger
- ② The non-turn player's [Counter] effects trigger
However, in such situations, only "when an opponent's Digimon attacks" effects would trigger at timings different from the timings shown on cards. This resulted in hindrances in gameplay and required players to know in advance that only "when an opponent's Digimon attacks" effects would trigger at different timings. This has now been changed so that "when an opponent's Digimon attacks" effects will trigger simultaneously with effects such as an attacking Digimon's [When Attacking] effect and "when an opponent's Digimon is suspended" effects. The rules for [Counter] effects will remain unchanged.
Text Rules
"Effects with XX in their text" can now reference text written on cards including names, traits, effects, inherited effects, rules, digivolution requirements, DNA Digivolve, DigiXros requirements, and Burst Digivolve.
In the previous version of the rules, this didn't include traits unless a trait was written in the text of an effect or (Rule), resulting in situations where it would be difficult to determine if a trait could be referenced or not. The rules have now been changed so that it will be easy to understand what text can be referenced.
However, this doesn't include notes on cards.
Tokens
Changes have been made regarding the preparation of tokens.
The rules for preparing token cards are as follows.
- ・Token cards can't be included in a deck or Digi-Egg deck.
- ・Token cards must be cards that can show their display format (unsuspended/suspended).
- ・When using token cards, you don't have to declare the effect to be used with the token in advance.
- ・The card information specified in an effect doesn't have to be written on a token card. Even if card information is written on a token card, it is considered to be a card with card information given to it by an effect.
Token cards can now be prepared even if your deck doesn't have any cards that use tokens.
In addition, the rules for tokens used in the game have been changed as follows.
- ・The number of tokens is always public information.
- ・Tokens can't digivolve.
- ・Cards can't be placed under tokens.
- ・When a token is removed from the field, it is removed from the game instead of being placed in a different area.
The rule stating that tokens can't digivolve and some other rules remain unchanged, but one change will be included: "A token will be removed from the game when it leaves the field."
When an effect such as [BT12-083 Arresterdramon: Superior Mode]'s effect would be used to place a token under another Digimon or Tamer, the token is removed from the game instead.
